Shiatsu is form of oriental bodywork. It creates a flow of energy to bring life to body areas.

We believe that Shiatsu can calm an overactive sympathetic nervous system, which improves circulation, relieves stiff muscles, and alleviates stress.

A Shiatsu session generally lasts for about an hour, and takes place on a futon mat on the floor. You will remain fully clothed. The treatment will be tailored to meet your needs, and is likely to include acupressure massage, stretching and hands-on work to increase the balance and flow of energy and bring awareness of the profound links between spirit, minds, emotions and body.
To benefit fully from the treatment, avoid alcohol and heavy meals on the day.

The Shiatsu School Edinburgh news

As we make our way through the winter months, keeping ourselves warm and well fed so that we stay balance, our Year One course is well under way. Working from the Southside Centre, Gabi, Tamsin and Cynthia are enjoying teaching the students as they make excellent progress in their learning.

We have regular practice classes so please do get in touch or go to the Practice Class page if you would like to join us. Everyone is welcome.

We will be announcing a new Introductory day / weekend for beginners very soon – a fantastic way to learn some moves to help yourself (Do-In self Shiatsu) and family and friends. If you are thinking about starting the Year One course in September 2019, this is a great opportunity to meet the teachers, see the space and find out what it feels like to put your hands on someone and leave them feeling happy and relaxed.

Finally, if you are already qualified (or nearly), you might want to learn how to give Shiatsu to babies (Paris course) or to address the vital issue of loss (including death and grieving) (Athens course).

New Shiatsu training information for beginners and graduates

We are pleased to announce three upcoming courses:

Shiatsu Introductory Day for beginners

Shiatsu acupressure for friends and family (year 1 of the professional training) – a stand-alone year or the first of three to become a practitioner

Death and Shiatsu, CPD for graduates hosted by The Shiatsu College, London
